Fraud through false credentials, illegal work, fake hours, and hidden jobs

The Council has strict vetting in place and the process is regulated by strict legislation when recruiting and staffing services. However fraud can occur when:

  • An employee lies on a job application about qualifications, or provides fake references
  • Fake identity documents are used in order to gain employment
  • An employee is not permitted to work in the UK
  • Claims are made for hours that haven’t been worked
  • Rates are charged and over inflated
  • An employee is paid full time and is working for more than one organisation in secret (moonlighting or multiple contract fraud)
