Internal and council employee
False expense claims, theft, conflicts, fake invoices, and undisclosed outside work
Examples of Internal or Employee fraud:
- Claiming for overtime, mileage, or expenses that they have not taken, or overinflating claims
- Creating fake records so payments are paid for work that has not been done
- Receiving cash from customers for adjusting records
- Selling Council information for personal gain
- Being employed full time but working at other organisations or for own business without declaring this
- Abusing position, stealing, selling council equipment or funds
- Dishonesty enabling friends or family to obtain contracts
- Processing invoices or fake invoices and keeping payments for personal gain / diverting funds to personal account, or creating fake creditor accounts
- Disposing of council assets dishonestly for personal gain
- Not charging friends or family for Council goods or services in return for a reward
- Not declaring personal or business interests or conflicts of interest for personal gain
