False expense claims, theft, conflicts, fake invoices, and undisclosed outside work

Examples of Internal or Employee fraud: 

  • Claiming for overtime, mileage, or expenses that they have not taken, or overinflating claims 
  • Creating fake records so payments are paid for work that has not been done 
  • Receiving cash from customers for adjusting records 
  • Selling Council information for personal gain 
  • Being employed full time but working at other organisations or for own business without declaring this 
  • Abusing position, stealing, selling council equipment or funds  
  • Dishonesty enabling friends or family to obtain contracts 
  • Processing invoices or fake invoices and keeping payments for personal gain / diverting funds to personal account, or creating fake creditor accounts 
  • Disposing of council assets dishonestly for personal gain 
  • Not charging friends or family for Council goods or services in return for a reward 
  • Not declaring personal or business interests or conflicts of interest for personal gain
