Blue badge
Fraudulent use of disability permits
The Blue Badge scheme is for people with mobility problems to enable them to park close to their destination. Not all disabilities can be seen, and some can be intermittent. This could be in designated parking bays, and single or double yellow lines where regulations permit this.
When in use the Blue Badge must be displayed in the vehicle as required, along with the clock where there are time restrictions.
The badge cannot be used if the badge holder is not present, however it can be used if a vehicle is parked by another solely to drop off or pick up the badge holder. The Blue badge cannot be used by another to do something on behalf of the badge holder if they are not present.
Some examples of Blue Badge fraud:
- Stolen Blue badge used by another
- Using a Blue Badge forgery, or Blue Badge that has been altered
- Using a Blue Badge where the holder is deceased
- Using a Blue Badge that is no longer valid
- Using a Blue Badge that has not been issued to you
- Letting a friend or family member use the badge when badge holder not present
