1. Details regarding the number of premises used regularly by the council’s Youth Offending Service
The Youth Offending Service have their own purpose built premises in the town centre.

2. Details regarding the number of the council’s Youth Offending Services’ premises which have a static weapons detection system ie. knife arches in place and the name/s of these premises.
There is no static weapon detection system installed at the Youth Offending Service premises.

3. Details of any mobile weapons detection systems ie. knife wands used by the council’s Youth Offending Service to search young people for weapons and when this is used.
There are no mobile weapons detection systems in use by the Council’s Youth Offending Service.

4. Details available of any serious incidents involving weapons on premises used regularly by the Youth Offending Service or at Youth Offending Service events, including the number of such incidents, between March 2018 and March 2021 and details of how such incidents are recorded.
There have been no incidents involving weapons on the Youth Offending Service premises in the period outlined.

5. Is the council considering introducing weapons detection systems, either static or portable, into premises used regularly by its Youth Offending Service?
Not at this time, however this will be subject to regular review. Risk Assessments are undertaken prior to any session to ensure sufficient safety measures are in place.

Children are unable to enter the premises without being buzzed through the front door, which is camara operated. Meeting rooms and intervention spaces can only be accessed via staff fob and have CCTV cameras installed in them. You can only enter the main office space using staff fob. A protective screen is being installed on reception.

6. Please could you attach any policies used by the council’s Youth Offending Service on searching young people aged under 18 for weapons before attending meetings/events on premises used regularly by the Youth Offending Service.
The Youth Offending Service do not search children prior to their attendance at the Youth Offending Service premises/at meetings.

Where a child is subject to a statutory order, they have to sign a Required Standards of Behaviour document, which includes an agreement not to carry weapons/bring them to the Youth Offending Service premises.
