1. What support is available for children with multi-sensory impairment in the area the Local Authority covers?
a) From the Local Authority’s Sensory Services team
b) From other teams within the Local Authority
• The Berkshire Sensory Service have a qualified MSI teacher who works 0-25 with all early years and educational settings including special schools to provide direct teaching and advisory programmes, training, parent workshops and also joint working with the QTVI and the QTOD and other professionals.
• A number of QTVIs and Teachers of the Deaf including the Head of Service have completed the NATSIP MSI course.
• MSI pupils also have visits from the Habilitation Officer as required.
• Levels of support are determined using the NATSIP Eligibility Criteria and Service programme delivery bands which align with NATSIP. Levels.
• CYP with MSI may also have social care support from within the Local Authority -this is child dependent.
• Some but not all CYP with MSI will have a EHCP and this outlines any additional support such as respite, Speech and Language or Occupational Therapy which is commissioned through the LA
2. Does the Local Authority currently employ any multi-sensory impairment teachers or practitioners?
BSCS employs a Qualified Teacher of Children and Young People with MSI.

Three days a week term time only.
