I am conducting research into the funding, procurement and delivery of period products by Wokingham Borough Council for people who menstruate. I would be most grateful if you would provide me, under the Freedom of Information Act, the following information.
1. Does the council provide free sanitary products for council employees?
It does not come under the Public Health remit.
2. Does the council provide free sanitary products to the general public?
We’re working in partnership with local organisations to help tackle period poverty in the borough.
More information: https://www.wokingham.gov.uk/cost-of-living/period-poverty/
3. Does the council provide grants for the provision of period products?
Funding is being provided to support local women who are struggling with money, so they can be given reusable period products.

4. Has the council set a budget for this provision?
An initial budget of £2,000 available to provide re-usable period products to people who are struggling.
5. Who is the person outside of procurement responsible for Period dignity at Wokingham Borough Council?
The CEO’S office - WBC has been involved as part of widening out access and support as part of the poverty / cost of living response, so ensuring that we can increase availability – particularly for re-usable products. This is largely run through our voluntary sector partners and with frontline areas such as libraries.
