I am making this request under the powers of the Freedom of Information Act 2002.
1. Does the local authority have an agreed suicide prevention action plan or strategy?
Yes, our approach is guided by the Berkshire Suicide Prevention ten-point plan (attached/linked) while we review and refresh the broader Berkshire Suicide Prevention Strategy. This process will begin with the Berkshire Suicide Prevention Summit in November 22, which will act as a consultation launch for the strategy, with the aim of publishing the full strategy in Spring 2023.
a) If so, does this strategy recognise veterans as an at-risk, priority or tailored group?
Veterans are not specifically identified as an at risk/priority group in the current ten-point plan. All potential at risk groups will be considered as part of the prevention strategy refresh, however, and depending on local need may be included as a priority group.
b) If so, does your strategy reference veterans in any other way?
See above
c) If so, when is your strategy due to be reviewed?
The refreshed strategy is due to be published Spring 2023.
2. Does the local authority have Armed Forces and Veterans Champion?
Yes
a) If so, what is the name and contact email address of your Armed Forces and Veterans Champion?
