I would like to request the following information regarding Special Treatments and Special Treatment Bye-laws:

1. What year did the authority first adopt Bye-laws for registerable special treatment activities?

2. Have your Bye-laws been updated in line with the latest practices? e.g. single-use needles

3. What year were your most recent Bye-laws enacted?

4. On average, how many consumer complaints per year do you receive in relation to registerable special treatments?

5. How many times per year does the authority prosecute in line with s16, Part VIII, of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982?

We have been advised by our Licensing and Processing service manager that the byelaws currently in force are made under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.
Unfortunately, he is unable to readily provide the exact date when these byelaws were first enacted. However, can confirm that they have not been further updated since their original adoption.
While the byelaws remain unchanged, best practice guidance is encouraged by officers within the scope of our regulatory activities.
Additionally, can confirm that there have been no complaints received by our service relating to special treatments. There have been no prosecutions in recent years.
