I’m researching social housing waiting times for vulnerable families and individuals in the UK. Could you please provide me with the following information, specific to your council:
1. In 2015/16 and 2020/21, the average length of time a household spent waiting to be moved into permanent social housing.
We do not produce average wait times as we run an individual short list for each void property against those that are eligible for that specific property and have that area of choice selected, in order of banding and waiting time.
2. In 2015/16 and 2020/21, the average length of time a household/person spent living in temporary accommodation. (Typically, are these individuals subsequently moved into permanent social housing once they leave TA?)
We do not hold this information for 2015/2016.
Average length of time household spent in temp end of March 20/21: 31 weeks
3. As of 4 July 2022, a breakdown of how many people in each of your housing need/priority bands are waiting to be moved into permanent housing. (Can you please include the average waiting time for the different housing need/priority bands, as well as the longest wait people are experiencing in each group?)
Band 1: 76 applicants. Longest wait April 2015
Band 2: 205 applicants. Longest wait April 2015
Band 3: 514 applicants. Longest wait December 1999
Band 4: 1048 applicants. Longest wait May 1984
Band 5: 646 applicants. Longest wait January 2003
4. As of 4 July 2022, the number of people in your council area currently living in temporary accommodation who are:
a) Children: 106
b) Victims of domestic abuse: 21
c) Medically unwell and require appropriate housing to suit their needs: 10
d) Suffering from a mental illness: 29
e) Victims of violence and/or gang-related/physical threats 4
