1. Please could you advise what criteria is required to remove double or single yellow lines from public roads.
The Council as highway authority undertakes periodic reviews of all legal restrictions on traffic and road use where a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is in place. Wherever a particular TRO includes rules that no longer apply to particular locations or where it is required to change an earlier TRO, this is undertaken in response to a specific request. Members of the public can request new TRO’s and reviews at any time through the Council’s website.
In 2020, officers completed a full review of TRO’s related to weight, height and width limit regulatory orders in the Borough as a precursor to the development of a new freight movement strategy to be incorporated in the Council’s Local Transport Plan.
A review of waiting and loading restrictions was undertaken in preparation for new Civil Parking Enforcement procedures in 2017 and a further review commenced in March 2021, as part of the Council’s Parking Management Plan, to improve public access to information about parking controls in the Borough.
