Under the Freedom of Information Act, can you please let me know the following? Please don’t send links to council reports – I am only after the below information.

1. What was you annual net spend on public sports and leisure facilities and pitches for the 2012/13 financial year, compared to the 2021/22 financial year please?
• Net spend for 2012/13 is £-114,122
• Net spend for 2021/22 is £-345,157
Note: this is for all services under the sport and leisure remit (excluding leisure centres

2. How many school playing fields were there in May 2012 compared to May 2022?
Based on the standard definition of school playing fields (S77 School Standards and Framework Act 1998) the answer for state funded schools is:
• May 2012: 67
• May 2022: 71
If the responded wants all school playing fields (ie including independent schools), the minimum number is:
• May 2012: 79
• May 2022: 82
Note one, that some independent schools may maintain off-site provision, that would increase the number of playing fields.
Note two, that the totals above include the Ambleside Centre, a nursery school, because it is a maintained school, but excludes other early years only provision (as these are not listed as “schools” by the Dfe).
Note three, where schools share sites, but have school specific facilities within these sites, the school specific facilities are counted separately.

3. How many free-to-use public sports fields were there in May 2012 compared to May 2022?
