The following numbers represent the number of pothole repairs carried out by Wokingham Borough Council. In Wokingham Borough, the data is recorded by financial year, and therefore the data is presented in this form. Please note that a single repair may involve more than one pothole, but this is not always recorded.

In the calendar year 2022, 32 claims were notified to the council’s insurance team and/or insurers requesting compensation for vehicle damage allegedly caused by potholes. 13 claims were settled; 19 claims were closed with no payment. The total amount of compensation paid is £4,572.12.
In the calendar year 2023, 130 claims were notified to the council’s insurance team and/or insurers requesting compensation for vehicle damage allegedly caused by potholes. 50 claims were settled; 80 claims were closed with no payment. The total amount of compensation paid is £13,849.56.
In the calendar year 2024, 82 claims were notified to the council’s insurance team and/or insurers requesting compensation for vehicle damage allegedly caused by potholes. 25 claims have been settled; 47 claims were closed with no payment; The total amount of compensation paid is £10,582.23.
In the calendar year 2025, up to 4th December 2025, 58 claims have been notified to the council’s insurance team and/or insurers requesting compensation for vehicle damage allegedly caused by potholes. 23 claims have been settled; 29 were closed with no payment. The total amount of compensation paid is £6,881.10.
4. Please provide the total amount of compensation paid out by the council for pothole-related vehicle damage in each of the years mentioned in question 1.
