I was wondering if you could please help with me a Freedom of Information request relating to potholes in your local area? I am looking for help with the below, if that’s at all possible:

1. How many potholes were fixed in your area in 2020?
Wokingham Borough Council handles all carriageway defects in the same way and does not record potholes separately. Data in the form of summary PDF reports for each calendar month are available on the Wokingham Borough Council website here.

2. How many complaints did you receive relating to potholes in your area in 2020?
Wokingham Borough Council does not record pothole complaints separately from other highway-related complaints.

3. How many claims for compensation did you receive relating to potholes in your area in 2020?
As of January 2021, the number of compensation claims for the year 2020 is provisional, as it may be several weeks before a claim is sent to Wokingham Borough. For the financial year 2019–20, the total number of highways claims was 216. To date, for the financial year 2020–21, the total number of highways claims is 50. Please note that claims specifically due to potholes are not recorded separately.

4. How much compensation was given to those whose vehicles were damaged by potholes in your area in 2020?
As of January 2021, the amount of compensation claimed for the year 2020 is provisional, as it may be several weeks before a claim is sent to Wokingham Borough. For the financial year 2019–20, the total amount claimed was £25,132.17. To date, for the financial year 2020–21, the total amount claimed is £14,084.79. Please note that claims specifically due to potholes are not recorded separately.

5. Were there any particular areas / roads that received the most pothole repairs?
