1. It is our understanding that the authority no longer accepts reports of potholes and road defects via email, and instead only accepts reports via an online system. If this is incorrect, please let us know which email address reports of potholes should be directed to.
Wokingham Borough Council encourages the reporting of potholes and road defects via the Wokingham Borough “Report a problem with roads and streets” webpage at: https://www.wokingham.gov.uk/roadworks-and-outdoor-maintenance/report-a-problem-with-roads-and-streets/

This is because fault reports from the website are sent directly to the maintenance contractor for investigation, which can cut the time taken from reporting to repair. Fault reports sent in other ways, such as emailing, may be subject to delays, e.g. while the correct department is identified for a response. Please note that urgent or emergency road problems should be reported immediately by phone to:

0118 974 6000 and select the 'highways' option, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
0800 212 111 out of Hours - Monday to Friday 5pm to 9am, weekend days and public holidays

Road fault reports are still accepted by other channels, however customers should be aware of the potentially slower response time as outlined above.

2. Otherwise, if you could please answer the following questions, that would be most appreciated:

a) On which date did the local authority stop accepting reports of potholes and road defects from the public via email (i.e. by only accepting reports via an online reporting system)?
As explained above, Wokingham Borough Council still accepts road fault reports via channels additional to the “Report a problem with roads and streets” webpage.

b) How many reports of potholes/road defects did the council receive during each of the past 60 months (5 years) for which data is available? Please provide the figures on a month-by-month basis.
Monthly summaries of carriageway repairs of potholes/road defects are available as individual PDFs for download from the Wokingham Borough public website at:
https://www.wokingham.gov.uk/roadworks-and-outdoor-maintenance/roadworks-and-road-maintenance/pothole-and-road-repairs-schedule/?p=1

Downloads are available to cover the period November 2018 to June 2021. For the period June 2016 to October 2018, i.e. the remainder of the 5 year period requested, a summary Excel table is attached.
