1. Information on the number of CCTV cameras in your area
ASB team: have 2 mobile sets
Property Services: Within the Commercial and operational portfolio, we operate a number of fixed CCTV cameras located on assets across the borough. These include sites owned and managed by the council, leased properties, and locations managed by our appointed managing agents. The total number is high and varies by site, but the current estimate of fixed CCTV cameras is approximately 50 cameras.
Highways and Transport have 60 cameras for Traffic Signal Monitoring, 14 moving traffic cameras, 3 School keep clear cameras and 10 Car Parks with Cameras.
2. Information on the number of cameras that are faulty or non-operational across your area to date (March 2nd 2026) and also during the following periods 2024, 2025 and the current 2026 period. This can be broken down into months or years. However, the data is held.
ASB team: have none
Property Services: On our operational portfolio, there have been no faults reported in these years (2024-2026).
Highways and Transport: For Traffic Signal Monitoring/Moving Traffic Cameras/School Keep Clear Camera/Car Park cameras: We do not have an ongoing fault tracking for the CCTV as described.
3. A percentage and number breakdown on reasons for them not being in use, ie vandalised, faulty, outdated equipment etc
ASB team: None
Property Services: Not applicable
Highways and Transport: For Traffic Signal Monitoring/Moving Traffic Cameras/School Keep Clear Camera/Car Park cameras: We do not have ongoing fault tracking for the CCTV, these intermittently fail as a result of a drop in communications and electricity in the area. Other faults are related to camera hardware.
4. Where there were faulty cameras, I would like details on how long it took for those faults to be fixed. I am looking for data on the date a camera was reported faulty and then a date for when it was fully operational again.
ASB team: Not applicable
Property Services: Not applicable
Highways and Transport: For Traffic Signal Monitoring/Moving Traffic Cameras/School Keep Clear Camera/Car Park cameras: This depends on the fault type, if software related this is sorted ASAP the same day by the CCTV contractor's support team, others depend on location of the camera for equipment to access or Temporary Traffic Management if near carriageway.
5. Details on how often CCTV systems in your area are reviewed, when was the last time the systems were reviewed or audited as a whole to check suitability rather than fault fixing specific cameras.
ASB team: We only have 2 sets of mobile CCTV which we review/ check weekly.
Property Services: Reviews are done in line with specific service contracts, on an annual basis.
Highways and Transport: For Traffic Signal Monitoring/Moving Traffic Cameras/School Keep Clear Camera/Car Park cameras: We review this continuously and include for new cameras, where required and if suitable during the installation of new schemes and the refurbishment of existing schemes. We are currently reviewing our moving traffic cameras with a view to relocate some but not looking to add to our current stock at this time.
