1. How many instances have been recorded where the tap-in process has failed but appeared to users as successful?
The machines do not record the reason why a transaction failed. It could be a number of factors such as: Bank card faulty, insufficient funds to process payment, Timed out contacting the bank, Communications network failure. We offer alternative methods of payment such as coin, RingGo or season ticket.

2. How many of these cases have resulted in parking fines being issued?
We do not hold this information, A PCN issued for nonpayment of the parking charge does not distinguish if an attempt to pay was made or not.

3. Whether any steps have been taken to review or improve the clarity of the payment confirmation process.
Our machines are regularly check by officers on patrol and reported to our service provider to repair if we have any faults under a Service maintenance agreement. Failed transactions from a faulty Bank card reader are covered under this agreement. No faults reported for Denmark Street card readers in the last 6 months.
