1. The total number of homelessness applicants who approached the council to join the housing register, in 2022/23, 2023/24, and 2024/25.
The Council are applying Section 12 to this request as it would exceed the appropriate limit (18 hours). The Council have two different systems for Homelessness case management and Allocations/ Housing register.
We would have to cross reference every homelessness application made during these times frames (22/23 391 applications, 23/24 588 applications and 24/25 539 applications. Total of 1,518 applications) with NEC to see if a Housing Register application was then received, to then record band and whether they were fleeing domestic abuse.
This would take on average 5 mins per check (for all three questions this covered) so would equate to 7,590 minutes which is approx. 127 hours. If we were to do this for a single year it would take just over 30 hours to complete.
