1. How many net students moved to the Wokingham borough seeking admission to year 6 to date (primary)?
There have been 89 applications for places to join Year 6 in September as of today’s date and there have been 23 leavers from current year 5 at the end of term.
2. Considering the ongoing increase in migration to the borough, what sort of planning Council has done to ensure adequate educational support to children moving into the borough?
The council plans through periodic phase reviews and places strategies. The most recent such strategies can be read here: https://www.wokingham.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-information-and-services/planning-new-school-places/
A new secondary strategy is in preparation.
3. Have you explored options of creating additional capacity in existing schools? Could you provide a table with PAN numbers for each school and increased capacity over the last 3 years, planned increase over the next 2 years? Where possible please provide increase incoming migration numbers too.
Yes, see attached file. There are currently no agreed increases in the PANS of existing schools over the next two years, but (a) a new primary school will be ready for occupation in 2022 in the Wokingham Town area and (b) the council is working with local schools to increase the number of places available in both the primary and secondary phases.
In terms of the migration part we require clarification as to if this means pupils coming from outside the UK, or if just outside of Borough.
