Great to see an initiative to get people working in hairdressers trained in domestic abuse.
1. Can you confirm please how many of those attending the training were from establishments where the clientele are predominantly men? Domestic abuse against men is a real iceberg and something we have rather closed our eyes to. If there was not much take up from such hair and beauty facilities, I would suggest they need targeting.
The sessions are open for people working across the hair and beauty industry and registration only asks for the name of the establishment so we are unable to identify in retrospect how many of the attendees were from those who predominantly have male clients.
Upcoming sessions have been, and are being, advertised publicly to encourage those both working predominantly with male or female clients. Targeted emails have been sent to barbers as well as wider hair and beauty establishments within the Wokingham area.
