I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information which relates to your spending on Christmas/festive season lights and decorations for public spaces in your jurisdiction.
1. Please may you provide me with data on:
a) The total amount of money that the Local Authority plans to spend on Christmas lights in 2022, and how much was spent in 2021, 2020, 2019.
None for 2022. We have not purchased any additional Christmas lighting for Shute End since Christmas 2017. The current lighting is still in working order. There was a replacement of the external lights due to high winds bringing the previous ones down. This was in December 2019 but was more reactive works; Cost £2,377.25
The Town and Parish Councils are responsible for any lighting that is erected in their area and is not the Borough Council who deals with this. Requests would need to be directed to them for any information they hold relating to their costs.
b) The total amount of money that the Local Authority plans to spend on Christmas decorations in 2022, and how much was spent in 2021, 2020, 2019.
None. As mentioned above the Town and Parish Councils are responsible for decorations in the their areas. So long as it doesn't cause a health and safety issue staff are allowed to bring in their own decorations for their desk, and other items may be donated for use.
c) The cost of energy used to run Christmas lights in 2021
We do not hold this information/unable to report on.
