I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. My enquiry relates to the Cycle Lane facility on the A329 Reading Road, Wokingham, phase 4, although other parts of the scheme have been introduced before and after that phase.

My request is prompted in relation to the cycle lane facility covered by phase 4 as it is that length which I am mostly involved with as a pedestrian. The information that I seek if for any considerations given to the safety of both cycles and pedestrians, such as signing and markings, when the various work was being considered before implementation including any safety audits that were undertaken and any resulting action taken to those audits. No doubt there are implications for other parts of the scheme where various items have been installed as in the case of phase 4. My concern for the use of the footways by cyclists at various points along the route from Holt Lane to Sadlers Lane.

I would be interested in any information held by your organisation regarding my request.

Please find attached RSA1 & RSA2 along with the designer’s response and the relevant drawings for the A329 Cycleway Phase 3b scheme that the applicant is interested in. Although the above requests refers to phase 4, but based on the details included we presume this actually meant phase 3b as the route from Holt Lane to Sadler's Lane is being detailed (phase 4 is the recent cycleway scheme on London Road).

It is worth noting that A329 cycleway phase 3b extends from Ferndale Crescent up to Holt Lane. The section from Sadler's Lane to Ferndale Crescent does not form part of the scheme.
