1. I would like to request details on what cybersecurity education is available to primary school teachers in your local authority as part of their CPD and whether this is compulsory or optional.
• Support and training in relation to cybersecurity is available to teachers in all schools (primary and secondary, academies and Local Authority Maintained School) from various external organisations including South East Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
• Our role as the Local Authority is to raise the awareness of schools regarding cybersecurity threats and to signpost opportunities for cybersecurity support and training to schools. From time to time, the Local Authority will offer training or briefings relating to cybersecurity, sometimes in a dedicated session and at other times as a strand within other courses or network meetings, e.g. with school technical staff. We also signpost cybersecurity training from regional or national organisations such as SEROCU or NCSC.
• The school leadership teams and governing bodies in individual schools and academies will determine what cybersecurity training to organise for their staff and will decide what should be compulsory and what is optional.
