I am writing to obtain information about the use of council computers and internet services. Please provide me with the following information for the previous three financial years (2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25):
1. The number of times council computers or internet services were used to access Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney + in each of the requested years.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide usage statistics. Access to these streaming services is proactively restricted across all council-owned and leased devices, as well as council-funded internet services. As a result, there are no records of successful access to these platforms within the specified periods.
2. The total number of search requests made for adult content websites on council computers or internet services. If this is too broad, please amend the search for any website containing the words ‘pornography’, ‘porn’ or ‘XXX’ in the URL, in each of the requested years.
We are likewise unable to supply statistics. Access to adult content and related website categories are blocked on multiple systems and firewalls across the council’s network infrastructure. This includes all council-owned or leased devices, regardless of whether they are used on council premises or remotely. Due to these security measures, no data is held for searches or access to such content.
Please note, by ‘council computers’ I mean all council owned or leased devices (laptops, desktops, mobile phones etc) used by council staff. Please include the requested data regardless of whether the search / use took place on council property.
By ‘internet services’ I am referring to any council funded internet services, whether in the council offices or at remote working staff locations.
If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.
