I am emailing in reference to a previous FOI request from the 25th February 2019 (Ref: WBCIR:11201) and I would like to enquire about this further.

In question 1.a) you were asked “With the exclusion of provision made for school transport, does the local authority provide specialist car seats to children with disabilities?” to which you answered, “No”. This sounds like a blanket ban policy on car seat provision.

1. Please can you detail the circumstances in which you would provide this equipment?

Wokingham Borough Council do not have a blanket ban policy on car seat provision. Although the service do not routinely provide specialist car seats to children with disabilities, should the provision of this equipment be considered a core component of a child’s care and support plan, funding can be offered. We also write support letters on behalf of parents to assist with access to charitable funding as appropriate.
