1. How many young carer assessments has the local authority carried out in your area each year for the past three financial years, and how many young carers are currently registered in your local authority area?
2022-23: 12
2023-24: 13
2024-25: 34

We currently support 135 young carers through youth activities and holiday activities.

2. How much local authority funding (with figures) has there been for Young Carer activities and/or short breaks in your area each year for the last three financial years?
2023-2024: £10,276.00
2024-2025: £4916.00

These costs only cover Training and Activity – they do not include the Staffing Costs for Sessions/Trips or Activities. There is currently not a short break provision for young carers in Wokingham.

We cannot provide data for 2022-2023 as the contract was delivered through another provider and do not hold this data.

3. How many youth club sessions and/or activities, short breaks or trips for Young Carers are provided in your area? How many of these are fully or partially funded by the council?
We are currently delivering the following: two Weekly Respite Sessions (2.5 Delivery Hours), School Drop-in sessions, 1:1 support sessions, Trips during school holiday periods and a residential experience. We are currently offering nine Trip Opportunities in 2025, alongside the programme of activities offered through Berkshire Youth.

These are partially funded by the council – the rest of the costs are met through parental support, trust and foundations from partners and fundraising opportunities.
4. Is there any additional provision in your area for Young Carers over school holidays - and if so, what? How much of this is fully or partially funded by the council?
We run trip opportunities for young people during the school holidays. This is partially funded by the council, the remainder of the costs are met through trusts and foundations from partners and parental support.
