I am writing to request information on the issue of penalty charge notices for parking violations by Wokingham Borough Council. I would like to know, in the last year (or most recent period for which information is held):
Data provided is for the most recent year period - August 2022 to September 2023
1. How many penalty charge notices were issued for ‘Contravention 73 – parking without payment of the parking charge’
10,004 PCN’s were issued for contravention code 73.
2. How many of those PCNs issued were challenged
3,334 PCN’s were challenged.
3. How many of those challenges were upheld
2,199 Challenges were accepted against the issue of a PCN.
4. How many of those challenges were upheld because the PCN had been issued in error.
There were 46 recorded CEO error PCN’s.
5. How many of those issuance errors were because the Civil Enforcement Officer had incorrectly recorded vehicle registration details.
Of the 46 PCN’s issued in error that were cancelled 15 were as a consequence of the CEO incorrectly recorded the vehicle registration.
