The council has not purchased any carbon credits over the past 5 years. The Council’s Climate Emergency Action Plan sets out 10 key priority areas for mitigating carbon emissions within the borough. Within our Plan, the priority is the reduction of emissions at source, with offsetting being the last step to cover any residual emissions. As such, while our CEAP includes a number of actions around carbon sequestration, these are focused on tree planting and enhancement of green spaces, and do not include the purchase of carbon credits.
