Some local authorities commission adult and/or children’s social care services from providers’ trading subsidiary in order that VAT can be reclaimed.
1. How many contracts does the local authority currently (2023/24) hold with social care providers that enable the local authority to commission adult social care services from the providers’ trading subsidiary in order that VAT can be reclaimed.
One for Children’s Services. None for Adult Social Care
2. How many contracts does the local authority currently (2023/24) hold with social care providers that enable the local authority to commission children’s social care services from the providers’ trading subsidiary in order that VAT can be reclaimed.
At the present time we are not aware of any contracts for children’s social care services that enable the providers’ trading subsidiary to reclaim the VAT.
For the avoidance of doubt, we are not referring to sub-contracting.
