We would like to know about the total number of vacant general needs dwellings in your local authority organised by year, number of bedrooms, and short/long term vacancies. We are exclusively interested in general needs social housing, not affordable rented housing. Please see below for the full details of what we are requesting.

1. We would like to know the number of vacants recorded on the first Monday of October for the following years:
• 2022
• 2021
• 2020
• 2018
We would like the vacants to be organised by vacant dwellings for under 6 months and long term vacant dwellings for over 6 months. Within this we would like to request that the vacants are organised by the number of bedrooms in the dwelling.
Additionally, there are three identical sheets in the template. We kindly request for the data to be reported on each sheet according to the following categories (please see definition under each category):

Local authority owned vacants (general needs stock only)
• The figures in this table should relate only to the number of vacant general needs dwellings owned by the local authority for social renting purposes
• Where a local authority has become a Large Scale Voluntary Transfer (LSVT) authority its stock, and therefore the number of vacant dwellings, will reduce to zero or a small number.
Local authority owned vacants (general needs stock only) not available for lettings
• Not available for lettings vacant local authority dwellings are those dwellings which are not available for immediate letting, e.g. either because they have been earmarked for sale or demolition or because they need extensive works before being relet etc. Such cases are sometimes referred to as "non-management vacants".
Private Registered Provider (housing association) vacants (general needs stock only)
• The figures in this table should relate only to general needs self contained social and affordable rent housing owned by Private Registered Providers (PRPs). Supported housing and/or housing for older people rental stock should be excluded.
• Private Registered Providers are providers of social housing in England that are registered with the Regulator of Social Housing and are not local authorities. This is the definition of PRPs in the Housing and Regeneration Act 2008.
