Summer-born children

Summer born children can start in the September after they turn 5 if the council approve an out of cohort admission and give them a delayed start.
1. How many summer-born children applied for out of ‘normal’ cohort admissions and how many of these applications were granted in the years 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
In 2019 there were 3 summer born applications made to start school the following school year. These were all allowed.
In 2020 there were 9 summer born applications made to start school the following school year. 7 of these were allowed.
In 2021 there were 11 summer born applications made to start school the following school year. 1 of the schools identified as a preference refused this request.
In 2022 there were 10 summer born applications made to start school the following school year. 1 of the schools identified as a preference refused this request.
In 2023 there were 3 summer born applications made to start school the next school year. 1 of the schools identified as a preference refused this request.
