Barkham ride solar farm project

1. Please can you give me the total amount of money spent by WBC on the barkham ride solar farm project.
As of 1st June 2026, the total expenditure on the Barkham Ride Solar Farm is £4.29m.
2. Please can you give me the total expenditure as well as the individual figure which has been spent on consultants in total and wbc management costs.
As of 1st June 2026, the total expenditure for consultants is £0.41m and Wokingham Borough Council Management Costs is £0.55m.
3. Please also advise the projected spend ignoring construction costs for the total life of the programme.
The Council does not hold a single, standalone figure for projected lifetime spend excluding construction costs in the format requested.
Project costs are forecast and reported across a number of categories, including:
• capital costs (covering construction and associated delivery costs)
• development and professional costs incurred to date
• ongoing operational and lifecycle costs over the life of the asset
These elements are considered collectively within the project’s full business case, rather than as a single aggregated figure for “non-construction lifetime spend.”
The business case includes modelling of operational and lifecycle costs over a 40-year period. However, this forms part of the Council’s detailed financial modelling and remains commercially sensitive.
Disclosure of this information would be likely to prejudice the commercial interests of the Council. It is therefore exempt under Section 43(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
