Equine based alternative learning provisions

I am conducting research into equine based alternative learning provisions. I am interested to understand the experiences of children and young people who attend an equine based provision either full time, part time or as part of an intervention. The research hopes to understand what it is like to learn in this way and may offer comparisons to traditional mainstream educational experiences.
Attendance at an equine based alternative learning provision may include:
• An equine based learning programme (such as, the British Horse Society Changing Lives through horses, Riding for the Disabled, Elective home education programmes)
• A structured intervention programme using horses
• Currently attend an equine based apprenticeship
• Attending an alternative provision (AP) which is equine based
Attendance at these can either be, full time as an alternative to, or in addition to mainstream education.
I am contacting you to request any anonymous, demographic information you already hold on the following:
1. Number or percentage of Children and young people aged between 5-25 attending an equine based alternative learning provision during the academic year 2024-2025 Aged 5-11
Aged 12-15
Aged 16-18
Aged 19-25
We do not use providers which solely offer equine support, therefore to identify where equine support is being accessed, we would need to look at individual support packages, which would exceed the 18 hour time limit. (Section 12)
2. Current recorded number of Children and young people aged between 5-25 attending an equine based alternative learning provision. Aged 5-11
