3. After the government’s consultation in HDR claims, what changes does your local authority (who provides social housing stock) think would be advisable?
Following the Government’s consultation on housing disrepair (HDR) claims, Wokingham Borough Council is taking a proactive approach to the management of its housing stock. The Council will undertake a 100% stock condition survey of all its housing properties during 2026/2027. The purpose of this programme is to identify current and potential disrepair issues at an early stage and to support the effective planning of future capital investment works. This approach is intended to reduce the need for reactive repairs and minimise the risk of disrepair claims by ensuring that maintenance needs are identified and addressed in a planned and timely manner.
