Sham marriage

1. Can you tell how many suspected sham marriages were reported to the Home Office by your registrars, for each of the past five financial years, including the current year to date?
2. Do you know how many of those reports resulted in marriage licenses being refused, over the same time period?
3. Do you know how many of those reports resulted in deportation, over the same time period?
Registration officers and anyone who acts on their behalf in carrying out statutory registration duties are outside the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act. Superintendent registrars and registrars are not a public authority as defined in the Act and, therefore, are not subject to its provisions. Data held by them, is not subject to disclosure under the Act.
