Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request the following information relating to Heavy Goods Vehicles (7.5 tonnes and above) operated by, or on behalf of, your local authority. This includes (but is not limited to) lorries, buses, refuse collection vehicles, etc.

1. For the calendar year 2025, please provide the following information regarding tyres purchased for Heavy Goods Vehicles:
Fleet type Number of tyres purchased Number of retreaded tyres Number of single life tyres Local authority operated fleets
Commercially contracted fleets
Within the WBC-owned fleet, we have only one vehicle that meets the specified weight criteria: a Landini Agricultural Tractor (registration RX20 DXZ). This vehicle has not undergone any maintenance, repairs, or tyre replacements during 2025.
From our waste team: 24 x 26t RCV and 2 x 7.5t Cages
In the year Jan - Dec 2025 - A total of 198 tyres were fitted and sourced by our providers (38 refitted after repair or regroove and 160 new tyres fitted)

Definitions
• Retreaded tyre: A tyre that has been remanufactured by replacing the worn tread on a previously used casing, extending the tyre’s service life.
• Single life tyre: A tyre that, due to its poor construction is not suitable for remanufacture, used once and then disposed of, without being retreaded, usually originating from Asia.
