I would like the stats for complaints to the council from 2013 to 2025, and earlier dates if available.
1. The number of complaints that were upheld
For years prior to 2022/23, the Council does not hold the number of complaints “upheld” in a single reportable dataset. To determine upheld numbers for earlier years would require a manual review of individual complaint case files, which would exceed 18 hours limit.
The Council can however provide the upheld rates from 2022/23 onwards, as recorded in the annual complaints reports:
• 2022/23: 391 complaints, upheld rate: 32.5%
• 2023/24: 422 complaints, upheld rate: 39%
• 2024/25: 505 complaints, upheld rate: 51%
2. The number which were complaints against Councillors, without names of course.
Complaints against Councillors and numbers upheld;
• 2013: 3 complaints (1 upheld)
• 2014: 8 complaints (1 upheld)
• 2015/16 : 4 complaints (1 upheld)
• 2016/17: 10 complaints (3 upheld)
• 2017/18: 3 complaints (0 upheld)
• 2018/19: 6 complaints (0 upheld)
• 2019/20: 5 complaints (3 upheld)
• 2020/21: 8 complaints (0 upheld)
• 2021/22: 7 complaints (1 upheld)
• 2022/23: 12 complaints (1 upheld)
• 2023/24: 19 complaints (4 upheld)
• 2024/25: 12 complaints (1 upheld)
