I’m getting in touch regarding the firm Room for Faith Ltd, which, as part of a business, is granted leases for properties which can then be hired out to religious groups. Could you please answer the questions below which I ask under the Freedom of Information Act.
1. Does your local authority have any properties listed under Room for Faith Ltd and if so how many? If it has previously, please provide when this period was.
There are 3 addresses with Room for Faith Ltd as liable.
2. If yes, are these properties considered to have exemption under the religious worship exemption of the Local Government Finance Act 1988.
None of these properties have the religious worship exemption on them.
3. Does Room for Faith Ltd owe any business rates (have a debit account balance) in the local authority and if so, for how many properties and for how much?
All 3 addresses have outstanding business rates due to the local authority. The total debt owed to WBC is £353,349.20.
4. Has the local authority ever pursued Room for Faith Ltd in respect of unpaid non-domestic rates and costs?
All 3 addresses have had Liability Orders granted.
5. If so, please provide when this was and for how much?
- Address 1: Liability Order granted on 13 June 2025 and 10 October 2025 for 2024 and 2025 tax years respectively.
- Address 2: Liability Order granted on 13 June 2025 and 10 October 2025 for 2024 and 2025 tax years respectively.
- Address 3: Liability Order granted on 08 August 2025, 08 August 2025 and 10 October 2025 for the 2023, 2024 and 2025 tax years respectively.
6. If the answer to question three is yes, was the case heard at magistrates court and what was the final result of each case.
All cases were heard at Magistrates court and had Liability Orders granted.
7. If the cost limit has not yet been exceeded, could you please provide any judgements in relation to cases referenced in question six.
Same answer as question 6, all cases have been to Magistrates Court. There have been no other court judgements at any other court.
