1. How many S147 Highways Act 1980 applications for a gate, stile or other limitation on a public right of way have been made to your authority in each of the past 6 years (2019-2024 inclusive)
PRoW do not maintain records of any applications under S147 Highways Act 1980 for gate, stile or other limitations, however, some informal negotiations with landowners are likely to have taken place over the past 6 years regarding new structures on the network. However, we do not retain a list of locations/landowners/dates/structures recorded. The GIS mapping show structures along the network, but no information on who installed and when.
2. How many of these S147 applications have been granted in each of the past 6 years (2019-2024 inclusive)

3. Do you allow self-closing mechanisms on gates on your network?
Yes.
4. In each year for the past 6 years (2019 to 2024 inclusive) how many applications for a gate with a self-closing mechanism were a) applied for b) approved and c) refused or not otherwise actioned
PRoW are not aware of any applications over the past 6 years. Some informal negotiations with landowners are likely to have taken place over the past 6 years, but specific information is not retained.
5. Do you have a separate policy on S147 authorisations and self-closing mechanisms. If so, please provide a copy of these.
No such policy currently exists for PRoW S147 authorisations or specifically self-closing mechanisms.
