Potholes
See notes
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please can you disclose the following information:
1. The number of unfixed potholes currently recorded under the council authority (as of August 15, 2025)?
Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to provide a retrospective value for the status of pothole repairs on a past date. This is due to the design of the highways database used in Wokingham Borough. A download of pothole repairs was made on the day that the information request was received, 18 August 2025. On that date, there were 5 potholes recorded as not yet repaired in Wokingham Borough.
a) Could you provide the location of these unfixed potholes, i.e. what road they are located on: On 18 August 2025, the following Wokingham Borough roads were recorded as having potholes that were not yet repaired:
ORCHARD ROAD - HURST
BROOK STREET - TWYFORD
SILVERDALE ROAD - EARLEY
HEADLEY ROAD - WOODLEY
NEW BATH ROAD - CHARVIL
2. How much the council has spent on pothole repairs in the last three years. (Broken down by years 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25)
Wokingham Borough has spent the following amounts on pothole repairs in the last three financial years:
2022-23: £196,642
2023-24: £317,038
2024-25: £214,145
3. The number of claims that have been lodged against the council relating to damage caused by potholes in the last three years. (Broken down by years 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25)
a) How much the council paid out in compensation to successful claims. (Broken down by years 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25)
The council records claims by calendar year rather than by financial year. As such, we have provided data for the 2022, 2023 and 2024 calendar years.
