I would like to request the following information across your Locality/Region/Borough:
1. Between April 2023 – March 2025; how many people with a learning disability have been moved from their own home into a nursing or residential dementia care home for older people?
2. Between April 2023 – March 2025; how many people with the specific diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome have been moved from their own home into a nursing or residential dementia care home for older people?
3. Between April 2023 – March 2025; how many people with a learning disability have moved from a supported living service or residential home that specialises in supporting people with a learning disability into a nursing or residential dementia care home for older people?
4. In all cases of the above, what was the average cost per week to support a person with learning disabilities prior to their move into a nursing or residential dementia care home for older people?
5. Between April 2023 – March 2025; what was the average cost to support an older person living in a nursing or residential care home for older people?
We do not report on this.
The care homes we use are typically not solely 'dementia' care homes; they cater for people with and without dementia. We are therefore unable to answer these specific questions. In cases where a dementia bed was commissioned in a nursing or residential home, as we do not record these in any specific way we could only identify these with a manual trawl through case files which would take us over and above the time limit for FOI requests.(Section 12)
