Venue hire

Local Authorities are expected to ensure that publicly-owned venues and resources do not provide a platform for extremists and are not used to disseminate extremist views. Local Authorities should ensure their venues are not used by those whose views would draw people into terrorism, by ensuring that rigorous booking systems are in place.

Local Authorities are also expected to provide guidance and support for other organisations within their areas to ensure that they do not inadvertently provide platforms for radicalisers.

Please use the Venue Hire Guidance and Checklist on the Gov.uk website to assist you when hiring out a venue.

You can also view the Prevent Duty venue and speaker checklist for more information on policy and guidance.
