Find out about the Safer Places Scheme

Stay safe with our Safer Places scheme

The Safer Places scheme was set up to give people a safe place to go if they feel unsafe. If you go in to one of these places and ask for help, they will offer you somewhere quiet to sit. They can also phone somebody to help you get home, or call the police, if necessary. Visit the Safe Places National Network website for more details.

Look for the 'Safe Place' sticker

‘Safe Place’ stickers have been put in the windows of shops and businesses that are taking part in the scheme. Read the list of shops signed up to the Safer Places Scheme (PDF document)

Safer Places Card

We are aware that some vulnerable members of the community have gone to a Safer Place for help. The symbol on the sticker in the shop window is recognised, however not everyone who has used a Safer Place, once there, has known how to ask for help. The cards will support this.

The cards are free and not compulsory as people have different needs. Those wanting a card will need to register for one. The cards will be approximately credit card size and laminated, so that they can be kept in a wallet or purse.
