Disability Access Funding (DAF)
Extra funding available for children who receive Disability Living Allowance and attend a nursery or pre-school
The Disability Access Fund (DAF) gives money to nurseries and other early years settings to help support children with disabilities.
This money helps the setting make changes so that children with disabilities can join in and feel included. These changes can help one child or all the children in the setting.
The money is given once to any registered early years setting that has a child who gets Disability Living Allowance and is using a funded early education place.
Accessing funding
The council needs to check if the early years setting can get the funding for the child. To do this:
- Parents must fill in the Parent Declaration form.
- A copy of the first page of the child’s Disability Living Allowance (DLA) award letter must be included with the form.
- The early years setting should email these documents to our Early Years Team
- The email should be titled: DAF Application – [Child’s Name]
- Email: earlyyears@wokingham.gov.uk
Once the Early Years Team receives the documents, they will process the DAF application and confirm the child is eligible.
To help the application go smoothly, please make sure:
- the DLA award letter is clear and easy to read
- the Parent Declaration Form is fully completed
The DAF is paid as a one-off lump sum once a year for each eligible child.
Early years settings must re-apply each year to receive the funding again.
