Food Safety and Health and Safety Advice Service
The Commercial Services Team in Environment and Safety provide a Business Advice Service. Our advice and support concerning food safety, health and safety, and dermal treatment can be requested by your business.
Who should use this service?
- New or existing food businesses needing guidance on setup, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), or Food Hygiene Rating Scores
- Businesses seeking Health and Safety advice regarding safety policies, risk assessments, inspections, or certification checks
- Dermal treatment providers requiring pre-application or pre-inspection advice
About submitting an enquiry
- You can request a site visit and provide supporting documents to help us understand your business and specific needs.
- Please keep your business details up to date in order to ensure our records remain accurate.
- After submitting your form, our team will review your request and guide you on the next steps.
- Advisory visits and business advice are charged at £73 per hour, payable in advance.
How to submit
- Complete the Business Enquiry Request Online Form
- If you have previously contacted a specific food officer, you can indicate their name in the 'Other' section of the form to ensure continuity.
- Include any supporting documents such as risk assessments, HACCP drafts, or product specifications relating to the advice sought.
What happens next?
- Advisory visits and guidance will be arranged according to your request
- Our team can help you prepare for inspections, improve your Food Hygiene Rating Score, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
