Marrying if you're ill

We are able to provide an urgent ceremony for those with a terminal illness. We can make arrangements for marriages and civil partnerships to happen quickly, with care and consideration, to give you and your loved ones a special and memorable ceremony.

To arrange this, you will need to provide a doctor’s letter showing the following:

  • Doctor is in medical attendance on the person concerned
  • Person is seriously ill and not expected to recover
  • Person cannot be moved to a place registered for marriages
  • Person understands the nature and reason for the marriage ceremony
  • Signed and dated by the doctor and include their qualifications as registered by the General Medical Council
