About me

I’m Claire Shropshall, Mind in Berkshire’s Project Manager for the Wokingham Wellbeing Service. The Wokingham Wellbeing Service is provided by Mind in Berkshire and Wokingham Borough Council.

I support a team of four Wellbeing Workers to provide free one-to-one sessions for people aged 18 and over in Wokingham Borough.

The service enables people to put practical things in place that can help them feel more able to manage everyday stress and wellbeing challenges – you can find us in the Wokingham Charity and Community Hub in Denmark Street, as well as in GP practices across the borough.

I also supervise two Peer Support Wellbeing Workers as part of a new pilot project – watch this space for new Mind in Berkshire Peer Support Groups coming to Wokingham soon!

How I help residents

Another part of my role involves the facilitation of local mental health-focused voluntary and community sector initiatives – such as the Wokingham Mental Health and Wellbeing Community Alliance, which is a space for all local voluntary organisations, groups and services with an interest in supporting Wokingham residents with their mental health and wellbeing.

We work together to identify needs in the community, and aim to improve the experience of people accessing mental health and wellbeing services locally. I love meeting a huge range of inspirational and compassionate people every day in this role, and being able to help people with mental health issues get both support and respect.

At Mind in Berkshire, we passionately believe that no one should have to face a mental health or wellbeing challenge on their own, and we’re grateful for the council’s support so we can work towards achieving this vision in Wokingham.

About the Wokingham Wellbeing Service

Our Wellbeing Workers offer free one-to-one sessions which will help you to put practical things in place that can help you manage everyday stress and wellbeing difficulties.

They can:

• Give you time, space and support to speak about your concerns and help you identify what’s important to you.

• Tell you about services, resources, and tools you can use to improve your wellbeing.

• Support you to come up with some goals and encourage you to work towards them.

The service is for people aged 18 or over in Wokingham. Support is available at all GP practices in Wokingham as well as at the Wokingham Charity and Community Hub, via face-to-face, telephone or video sessions – whichever works best for you.

Testimonials from our service users:

“You have been so kind and patient. I really appreciate all of your support.”

“The service is very useful, it makes you internalise and think about what you need. I started volunteering which has helped me to have a support network outside of the home.”

“I know I have a long road in front of me, but I now know I am on the right road.”
