Part-time – 20 hours per week (flexible)
FTE Salary: LC1 (SCP 7-12) £25,584 – £27,711 per annum (based on full time 37 hours per week)
Pro Rata Salary: £13,829 – £14,978 per annum (based on 20 hours per week)
Salary is based on 2024 SLCC rates (pending national pay award uplift currently under negotiation). SCP will be offered depending upon qualifications and experience.
Finchampstead Parish Council is seeking a highly organised and reliable individual to join our small, friendly team as a Finance & Admin Assistant. This is a part-time role offering flexibility in working hours across the week, based at the Parish Council Office within the Finchampstead Baptist Church (FBC) Centre.
Key responsibilities:
- Accurately input financial transactions into our financial management system (Scribe), ensuring proper coding and categorisation.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly payment schedules for Council approval.
- Monitor income and expenditure against budgets and report variances.
- Upload approved payments to Unity Trust Bank for authorisation.
- Prepare and submit VAT reclaims with supporting documentation.
- Support monthly bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Assist with end-of-year financial processes and audit preparations.
- Maintain orderly digital and paper records of financial documents.
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve invoice or payment queries.
- Provide administrative support for grants, contracts, and insurance matters.
- Help maintain the council’s asset register and inventories.
- Help maintain the policy schedule to ensure timely reviews and updates.
- Monitor social media channels for activity requiring response or follow-up.
- Undertake general administrative tasks such as managing correspondence, ordering supplies, and updating contact lists.
- Provide occasional administrative support to committees or working groups (e.g. preparing draft agendas or taking notes).
What we’re looking for:
- Good financial and administrative skills, with a methodical approach to work.
- Experience with financial systems (experience with Scribe is desirable but not essential – full training provided).
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- A team player with a flexible, proactive attitude.
- Prior experience in a public or local government setting is desirable, though not essential.
