Gorse Ride Estate regeneration

Find out about the Gorse Ride Estate regeneration

Redevelopment of Gorse Ride in Finchampstead

We are working to regenerate the Gorse Ride Estate in order to provide high-quality homes in a great community. The regeneration will take place in phases. The first phase was the demolition of Cockayne Court and some properties in Arnett Avenue, and the work taking place on the current phase is Firs Close, Dart Close and part of Billing Avenue.

Phase 1

The first phase was in Arnett Avenue - 46 new homes (36 flats and 10 three bedroomed houses).  The homes were completed in Summer 2021.

Phase 2

The current phase is 2a.  Work is taking places in the old Firs Close, Dart Close and part of Billing Avenue. Future phases (2b and 2c) include Orbit Close, Whittle Close, part of Gorse Ride South and the remainder of Billing Avenue.

You can view the planning application via the link on our planning site:

Wates are the construction contractor working on phase 2a. You can find out more about our next milestone for Gorse Ride Regeneration below.

We have opened a new community hub at 20 Gorse Ride South for residents to access support from the community engagement team.  The hub also has information about the regeneration.

Local school children recently won a competition to decide the theme of the new roads in the regeneration. Read more on our news website.

Steering group

A steering group meets monthly.  Council tenants and owner occupiers as well as local councillors, WBC staff and other community stakeholders attend. This group works to keep the community fully involved and informed as the regeneration takes place. It represents the interests of residents and wider community affected by the development. The group work with the council to influence the overall regeneration vision for Gorse Ride.
