Abuse of position and financial exploitation
Dishonest advantage taken through trusted role for personal monetary benefit
Fraud by abuse of position is where a person is in a position of trust and should be looking out for another best interest, however they use their position to exploit or take advantage and take money for their own personal gain.
Examples of abuse of position:
- A Carer using a client’s bank card using to withdraw cash without their knowledge
- A son or daughter has a parent with dementia and sells their house without permission taking the proceeds for themselves
- A Plumber gaining the trust of elderly and vulnerable clients, lying to them using a sad story to get money from them
- An Accountant diverting Company money into their own bank account
