1. Would you please provide summary information regarding the total number of Claims made against Wokingham Borough Council, for damage or personal injury, relating to potholes or pavement damage. Please include the total compensation figures for each of the subject years. Individual incident or identifying data must NOT be included.

In 2021 a total of 28 claims arising from alleged “potholes” in the carriageway or damaged pavements have been made against the council and passed to the council’s Public Liability insurers. Of these claims, 4 have been paid at a total of £1,441.17 in compensation.

In 2020 a total of 49 such claims were made of which 28 were paid at a total of £12,036.86 in compensation and 2 claims are awaiting settlement.

In 2019 a total of 24 such claims were made of which 10 were paid at a total of £8,174.09 in compensation.

In 2018 a total of 84 such claims were made of which 30 were paid at a total of £34,391.68 in compensation and 1 claim is awaiting settlement.

In 2017 a total of 40 such claims were made of which 5 were paid at a total of £2,606.51 in compensation.

In 2016 a total of 33 such claims were made of which 2 were paid at a total of £5,039.73 in compensation.
